Nationwide Survey by Focus Bari for the Hellenic Association of Regional Press Publishers (E.D.I.P.T.)

Focus Bari Conducts Nationwide Survey for the Association of Journalists and Magazine Press Owners
Focus Bari conducted a new nationwide survey on behalf of the Association of Journalists and Magazine Press Owners (E.D.I.P.T.), highlighting the vital role of specialized and regional print media in an era of information overload and an increasing demand for reliable information.
The findings were presented during MEDIA & MAGAZINE DAYS 2026, held from June 3–5 at the iconic Tobacco Factory of the Hellenic Parliament, with the participation of prominent institutional representatives and key stakeholders from the media industry.
The results were presented by Focus Bari founder and Resilience Expert Xenia Kourtoglou, who emphasized the following key findings:

Information Overload and Distrust Shape the New Media Landscape
An overwhelming 80% of Greeks say they feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of news and information they receive, while 9 out of 10 express reservations about the reliability and credibility of the content they consume.

Strong Relationship with Specialized Print Media
78% of citizens engage with specialized print publications, while more than two-thirds of readers (68%) say they find useful, exclusive, and meaningful content in these publications that they cannot find elsewhere.

Specialized Print Media: A Trusted Reference for Professionals and Demanding Audiences
65% of professionals consider specialized publications to be a reliable source of information for their industry, while 54% of readers use them as a practical resource for their work, knowledge, and personal interests.

Regional Print Media Remain a Pillar of Local Influence
More than three out of four Greeks (77%) engage with regional print publications, recognizing their crucial role in connecting citizens with their local communities (74%) and in highlighting the issues that matter most to local societies.

According to the new edition of Focus on Tech Life by Focus Bari, which has been conducted nationwide continuously since 1995, it is observed:

  • Almost all of Greece is online, with the Region showing impressive growth.
  • Dynamic entry into the digital world for older age groups, with 45+ increasing dramatically.
  • Mobile phone use for online activities is exploding across the country, with Thessaloniki standing out on social media.
  • More than three out of four Greeks demand more protection from the state against electronic piracy and cybercrime.

Parental Concerns in Greece: from safety to school shopping

More than one in two parents express concern about the safety of their children in the school environment!

According to a new nationwide survey by Focus Bari, entitled: “Parental concerns in Greece: From safety to school shopping” , it is found that:

  • Mental balance & bullying are the main parental concerns most prominently among moms and parents of teen and pre-teen children at the start of this school year.
  • For the new school year, parents choose school supplies mainly based on low prices and offers, taking into account the preferences of their children, while quality and durability seem to come in “second place” in view of the tight finances in Greek household.
  • The average expenditure on school supplies is €128, with older parents spending more.
  • Almost three out of four parents prefer to buy school supplies from physical stores, with just 7% opting exclusively for online shopping for these items.
  • Parents sourced school equipment from both well-known chain stores and local bookshops, with some choosing supermarkets.
